I tell a part, you tell a part, then someone else, can tell a part. when you think the story should end, just post "the end" and the start of your new story. I'll start one.

From the bluff where he watched, the town was made of shadows and silhouettes scurring among the streetlamps. The man wished for more detail of appearance, to see what kind of people they were. Pushing his curiosity back, he focused on sharpening his dagger. best he never saw the faces.

The metal on stone scraping noise drew his attention away from this place, this business and to another time. Where he stood in his kitchen, looking upon the lovely countance of his wife. Her hair the color of brandy of flowing as a waterfall among her slinder shoulders. She boasted a smile that could right any wrong, turn any heart to joy. Of course, he never did tell her these things - he never thought her life, their life together, would end so soon.

The rasping of his Whet stone on steel turned to the scrapping of chains on the wooden floor, his wife, Desare, breathing heavily with fear, crouched behind the cupboards he had made last summer. The roar of a fire consuming a village drifted through the cabin windows. She had tried to hide, and he had tried to protect her from the shrouded man wrapped in chain. Both attempts had failed, and now she was worse than dead. Maybe tonight, he would make it right.

His eyes glistened in the stark moonlight. With the back of glove coated hand he wiped the pain away, pocketed the stone and rose. On the crest and in the shadow he held the appearance of the enemy he sought - terror personified. Anger began to boil in his chest and his vision narrowed until he could only see ahead, though constantly aware of the troubled world around him. He would be vengence, he would be righteous death. His heart pumping, his knuckles whitening, the Nameless Man lept from the ridge!

Landing in a sprint he tore toward the village, unerringly his steps niether faultered nor slowed. His prey was here, and soon he would be seeped in a shower of its lifeblood.

Quickly the small village grew closer. With great ache of his heart the silent man slowed up before entering this quaint little village. A flash of a long lost villages burns in his memory as he glides to a stop behind an old oak tree. Could this truly be the village his prey is in? It is untouched by the ravages of war. Motionless he listens... Is that music?

A melodous tune hangs in the air, caried by the laughter and celebration of the masses. Lights pour from carelessly flung open windows into an empty street. Images of a life so simple and sweet.
Could he have been so happy once? Thoughts of what was lost carry away any moments of happiness. He was terror personified, he was retribution, he was going to have his prey. Shifting his stance with his back to the rough bark of the oak, the silent stranger faultered for only a momet. He was off again, the fires of his heart fueled with the thought of vengence.

He stepped into the torch lights and surveyed the crowd, seeking chained ones, and whatever soul-less beasts that stalked out of hell this night. he spotted them, two masses of chains and flesh swaying through the crowd, a dozen or more lesser creatures prowled in shadowy nooks, festering wounds hidden in the darkness. The village looked right through all of them, never seeing or understanding how close they were to a fate worse than death. Two children scrambled past his feet, shrieking with laughter. young women danced with young men and the elderly laced through the crowd, placing flowers in loved ones hair. All of them would be deaths conscripts.
    Ah, desare!
He broke through the crowd with a deadly fury aimed at a chained one. The thing noticed that The Nameless Man held a true sight, and lashed a chain in his direction like a whip. A fluid evasion, and he kept striding, twin daggers at hand. Somewhere, a woman screamed. People saw it now. He could feel the energy of terror and fleeing, but he never looked away. A harsh metallic sound rang from behind him as a tarnished chain hit into his right arm and wrapped around it, like a constrictor. He muttered a curse. he had never fought two before.

Knowing that if he Doesn't act quickly he'll lose his arm he takes stiletto dagger and stabs it through the link of the chain just as the demon pulls. Pain shoots through his body and howl in pain as the beast hurls the man though the air.

Surprised that it didn't pull off the arm, but enjoying the sight of his victim sailing across the vast square. With a flick the man is released as he plunges into the backs of fleeing towns folk.
